Now that I have had a good amount of time with my Kii Three monitors, I have to say I’m a bit blown away. Never had monitors so instantly translate, never had monitors where I didn’t have to guess with the low mid and sub, and I have never had monitors that reward a good mix as much as these. This is the first time I find myself listening to music in the studio, rather than it just being a workplace.Yeah they aren’t cheap, but I also haven’t had to spend any money on treating a room I likely won’t be in long term. On top of that, I do use them for work, and the Amphions these replaced were my set for 7 years or so. I trust these will serve me at least as long as those. Born on October 31, 1984, Misha Mansoor, widely known by his stage name Bulb, is a prominent American musician recognized for founding the progressive metal band Periphery, where he serves as one of three guitarists. His musical endeavors extend to his involvement in projects such as Haunted Shores, Four Seconds Ago, and Of Man, Not of Machine. Mansoor is often hailed as a pioneering figure in the djent genre, although he humbly attributes the coinage of the term to Meshuggah’s guitarist Fredrik Thordendal. Within Periphery, he has showcased his talents by recording, producing, and releasing seven studio albums, including titles like “Periphery II: This Time It’s Personal” and “Periphery IV: Hail Stan.” His exceptional skills have earned him a spot among Guitar World magazine’s Top 20 guitarists of the 2010s. Reflecting on his experience with the Kii Three monitors, Mansoor shares his astonishment: “After spending a substantial amount of time with my Kii Three monitors, I’m honestly astounded. These are the first monitors I’ve used that offer such immediate translation of sound, eliminating any guesswork in the low mid and sub frequencies. It’s an unprecedented experience for me.”
Listening to the Kii Three for the 1st time knocked me over, how amazing and dynamic they sound. So many precise and accurate transparent details in the low end, Realistic, Unbelievable frequency response, crystal clear mid & hi range. Few hours of magnifying glass listening, to all styles generes, 60´s to this day music is such a pleasure with this spectacular audio system. In Producing & Mixing the most important K(ii)ey for my work is to have honest and transparent speakers that translates your work perfectly to other systems and audio environments. The system is highly upgraded with the Kii Control. Mastering leap to the next level keeping a clear signal path. This is definitely the Kii.
The key to building great sounding monitors is to authentically reproduce the natural depth, width and frequency response of a recording with as little compromise as possible. Kii achieved this in surpassing all of my expectations! Trusting speakers has always been a struggle for us as you usually need to adapt your workflow and mix to the character of the monitor in order to achieve the desired result. This completely changed with our Kii Three BXT System – we just listen and enjoy! From a young age, Marco Battistella Jr., son of an esteemed orchestra conductor, was immersed in the world of classical music. By the age of four, he had already begun cello lessons, setting the stage for a life deeply entwined with music. His formal education unfolded at the Conservatory of the City of Luxembourg, where he received comprehensive training in music theory, saxophone, church organ, vocal techniques, Gregorian chant, choral singing, and eventually opera. After honing his skills, Battistella ventured to Vienna to further explore composition, enriching his understanding and mastery of music. Today, he leverages his extensive background as a performer in his dedication to producing classical music, jazz, and blues. He is committed to achieving the most authentic sound reproduction, which spans live broadcasts, concert recordings, and the creation of CDs and music videos. In his role at Lorely Hall, Battistella serves as a producer and sound engineer, specializing in classical music. His professional journey has taken him across Europe to Austria, Luxembourg, Germany, France, and Norway. Since September 2012, he has been imparting his knowledge to students in music, computer science, and sound engineering at ORG1 for Art and Music Hegelgasse in Vienna. Additionally, he is a lecturer at the SAE Institute in Vienna, where he covers stereo symphony, music theory, and the psychology of recording spaces. Battistella’s involvement in music extends to his active participation in the Vienna Singverein since 2008, showcasing his talent in prestigious venues like the Vienna Musikverein and Konzerthaus, the Salzburg Festival, and international stages in Japan, China, Russia, Turkey, France, and Luxembourg. He is a respected member of the Audio Engineering Society since 2011, the P&E Wing of NARAS since 2015, and has served as a GRAMMY Award jury member. Since 2017, he has been affiliated with the Association of German Tonmeister. Regarding the Kii monitors, Battistella believes that the essence of exceptional sound reproduction lies in the authentic representation of a recording’s natural depth, width, and frequency response, with minimal compromise. Kii’s monitors have not only met but exceeded his expectations, offering a level of trust in speakers that he had not experienced before.
"Prior to using the kii BXT system, i faced persistent sound issues in my studio. since making the switch, my audio clarity has dramatically improved…"
“With Kii Speakers I hear all the sound and feel all the music.”
"The Kii THREE speakers are without question the best monitors I have ever used. The detailed and revealing frequency response is from earth to light. These little monsters have balls at an extremely low level. I don't mix at loud volumes so to get a full frequency response out of a small speaker has always been my holy grail. I found my home with the Kii THREE's in minutes – a breakthrough speaker design that really works and delivers the goods."
Discovering Kii was a reveletion- it's not just speakers; it's an immersion. music becomes an experience, and each note and lyric becomes clearer and more vibrant. it's like hearing my favorite songs for the first time, every time.
"I really love the Kiis because I can hear the subs, rather than only feel the subs like on other speakers. Working on the Kiis completely changed the way I think about mixing. I can use the Kii Control to calibrate to a fixed listening level so that I never get ear fatigue. Plus, the cardioid bass lets me hear the low end all the way down to 20 Hz without having to dime out the speakers. For Planets Mad, that was essential. I do not think I could mix or master the records I make in this room with any other speaker.”
The company behind the acclaimed Kii THREE Mini Main monitor system is delighted to announce the Kii THREE Promonitor has been chosen by plugin company Sonnox for testing their products. Speaking about the decision Giles Farley for Sonnox said;“We at Sonnox have a long-standing reputation for taking an uncompromising approach tomaking plug-Ins. Critical listening is of vital importance in guiding us to make the bestchoices in making new stuff. The fact that some of our products can have subtle effectsfurther emphasises this requirement to hear all possible. Warts and all. So when it came to updating our listening room earlier this year, we bench-tested the verybest mid-field monitors we could find. The brief was simple; we were after transparency, precision and reliability. Unsurprisingly the same hallmark qualities that exemplify ourproducts. On this basis, our team unanimously chose Kii speakers above the best 3 alternatives thatwe could find. Our expectation, given the evident quality of the competition, was that allcompeting test results would be pretty tightly grouped; with the winner being chosen by thetiniest of margins. To our surprise the Kii system won by some distance; even performance across the entirespectrum, pin-sharp imaging and the way that their design helps to offset some LF roomissues all contributed. We couldnʼt be more happy with the choice we made!”
"I thought it' be easy to come up with a quote as a Kii Three user…but it's actually very tough! Because everything I truly want to say makes me sound overzealous… They completely redefined the idea I had of what professional monitoring should be. Not only do they show you exactly what your music sounds like (either in all of its glory or in all of its "ugly" which is what anyone should expect from a truly serious monitoring system), but they also give you microscopic details about what your stuff FEELS like! And they can do it even in "less than ideal" environments… which in the monitoring world is completely backwards by definition. The first major project I finished on them was delivered in one go… V1, and that was it. Done. As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing better out there, period."
Nestled away discretely via the main Reception, Studio 2 is Strongroom’s best kept secret. Featuring a spacious, leisurely control room, a sizeable booth and a unique street-side view, this is Strongroom with a difference. Once the go-to studio for hit remix production and surround mixing, Studio 2 was then closed to the public for years as Nigel Godrich’s private facility, until 2018 when the doors opened once more as a joint venture.Refurbished to feature a minimalist, collaborative approach marrying a selection of artwork from Nigel’s personal collection and original Jamie Reid panelling, Studio 2 brings a new aesthetic to Strongroom for those in search of a contemporary feel with greater environmental control. The booth houses a Wendel & Lung upright piano with a clear line of sight to the mix position and exterior windows.A 32 I/O Pro Tools HDX2 system with an exhaustive list of plugins runs tirelessly on a Mac Pro 6.1 dustbin or, for the analogue fans, a 3M 24-track tape machine and oodles of classic compressors.
